Props costumes

Here are a few pictures of the different costumes each character was going to wear. i have taken these from the clips which we used before we put the film together 

When creating the film I had to figure out how each character was going to be presented. The main look I was going for was making the consumes as natural and modern as possible. Because most of the film was filmed in My Sixth Form building and apart of our policy is to be able to wear our own clothes. This is an aspect which i wanted to bring toward our film when focusing on the costume of the characters

Also By the way that the characters are presented can create representations towards them, 

Rory and Kyle


 

I wanted them both to wear a Cap Jeans and Trainers which are traditionally worn by British Youths. this would paint negative representations because they are dressed informally which could bring forth the connotation of intimidation . These representations can link to the one media theory which I have studied. Such as, "Stereotyping" (Assuming Rory and Kyle are going to cause trouble due to what he is wearing causing them to look intimidating to specific audiences. 

Kaylah

I wanted Kaylah to wear Jeans, a T- Shirt, Trainers and a Cardigan, which makes her representation look completely different, The use of costume would make her look more masculine slightly, which challenges the theory of the "Male Gaze Theory". This is   because she won't be dressed in a feminised way to draw the attention of the male gender which is the effect which i wanted to achieve I also wanted the audience to look more at her emotions rather than the way she looked. 

Alisha 

As the Ghost she needed to look believable, I had to consider what in particularly I needed to do to allow her look more scary which would have an positive effect on the film. I proposed that she wore a old nightgown. This therefore gave the effect that she came from the past which links to the Main Plot within the film. 

Props (wound) experiment

 As the props designer I needed to find a way to produce ideas and items which were effective I devised a plan to create a flesh wound in order to play a part within our film. This was an experiment  constructed on my media studies  teacher "Mr Davies".  I believe this experiment was beneficial when creating our film because it helped create a greater effect of gore and blood which effectively cause the audience to react positive to our film .

This is a picture of the main elements when creating this wound for this experiment 

1. Water colours
2. Small soft paint brush
3. Carvings of sharp wood
4. Bluetac

By using all of these elements it will help this experiment become successful

This is where the main experiment began

Firstly, I began to use the brush to mix the water colours together to create a fresh wound the colours which were used were, different shades of red purple and blue. I began to apply the watercolours to the specific spot where the wound was going to be which was on is forearm. I do believe this was a difficult proses because I had to mix the colours to fit his skin tone also I didn't want to paint too much because the wound would look realistic.

I then began to construct the wound by fitting the bluetac around the sharp wood shard it allowed it to stay firmly on Mr Davies's forearm.
Then by using the water colours I began to apply it to the bluetac which was going to hold the wood to create the wound.   I also tried to change the consistency of the water paint which could be used to pour down the wood shard to give the gore  effect.

After I created the wound Mr Davies ran round the room wailing and showing off his new wound he managed to convince many people that the wound was real which shows its effectiveness when viewed towards the audience.

This is the picture of my finished product I do believe that this is an effective way to produce a wound using water colours. however the only negative thing was that the bluetac struggled to stay on Mr Davies's forearm

As I was in charge of managing the props and costumes I had to find clothing and props which was needed to fit the scene.

Here is a few props which I think will assist my group and I to produce a quality horror film which will help its effectiveness



 

Props	Images
Tables and chairs  They are used to facilitate the cast when filing the scenes where they are taking part in academic activity. also this helps the film look more natural because it is set in a school and table and chairs are usual the main objects which are used through the school this will help the film
Stationary and books This is key to help inform the audience into where the film is being set and makes the props natural to the scene
Fake blood This us key because this allows scenes within the film to become scarier toward the audiences because blood represents danger, pain, hatred and death
Clothing The main clothing used was the dress which was worn by Alisha who played the “Ghost” this helped create an ancient feel as she was a girl who died many years ago.
