This was my initial draft when I began to create poster. By conducting research I was then able to adopt different feature into my very own horror poster. These are the main conventions which I had to consider.
- Main image - I had to think of what my main image was going to be and how it was going to represent the film within it. I began to think and came up with the idea of using a close up shot of one of the main characters "Kaylah" as the main images for my poster. I also wanted to shade the image with black in order to create a shadow effect which I believed was going to have an effective way to make the image gain a horror feel. I also believe that using a close up image of Kaylah allowed me to emphasise key areas within Kaylah's face which was her eyes by leaving them I was able to give that effect of fear within her eyes which could be effective when viewed to the audience because they will be able to gain a sense of empathy. I also believe that her eyes where able to piece through the darkness within the rest of the image and create an eye-line match with the audience which would be effective and will help frighten the audiences.
- Mastheads& texts - When planning this poster I had to consider different types of fonts and sizes when using different conventions. I believe that by using a serif font I was able to highlight information and also each individual letter became more distinctive and easier for my audiences brains to recognise quickly. which I used when creating my masthead. Also when using this font style I was able to use highlight key information such as the roles of my group and also straplines.
- Celebrity Endorsements and Sponsors - When focusing on this conventions I had to look at my poster research and I highlighted that I needed to use Sponsors which were commonly used within films such as "Sony Studios", "20th Century Fox" and "Universal Studios". these where some of the main sponsors which I considers in my draft of my poster, I do believe that this would my poster look more authentic toward my audience and it could blend in will with real life style models
